The Christian life is one of grace and privilege. God has bestowed on us the great honor of being His children through the salvation that was extended to us in Christ Jesus. In Christ, there is power, provision, prosperity, in Him there is life and peace. We have been given the blessing to reign with Him and to be “partakers of the divine nature.” In this we celebrate and live lives of true liberty.

At the same time, there is an equal, but sadly overlooked or too conveniently forgotten, aspect of the Christian life that we must also embrace. The Christian life is one of covenant living and responsibility. God has entrusted us with the task of boldly guiding people to come to His banquet of life and peace. He has also entrusted us to fulfill His covenant of guardianship over our homes, our communities, our nation, and over this present and future generation.

The cost to accomplish this task that is both God-given and God-sized will be daunting, requiring more than we have within ourselves. Yet, in Christ, all that will be needed is ours. Yes, the cost is demanding but the cost of doing nothing could very well mean the future destruction of all that we hold dear.

Prayer Emphasis: Take some time to thank the Lord for all that He has given you and dedicate yourself to the pursuit of the task that God has set before you guide and guard others. Ask the Lord to reveal to you your role in accomplishing all that He has for you to do.

But when you are invited, go and sit in the lowest place, so that

when your host comes he may say to you, “Friend, move up higher.”

Then you will be honored in the presence of all who sit at table with you.

For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled,

and he who humbles himself will be exalted.
