In week one of this spiritual journey, we saw that prayer is my relational response to God’s invitation to know Him intimately and to join Him missionally. In line with this principle, we must remember that prayer is not only for relating to the Father but it is also for receiving from the Father. Jesus’ model prayer in Luke 11 reveals two areas in which we must be receiving on a daily basis in order to experience God’s provision to follow Him on this journey.

The first is daily bread — the receiving daily of all I need to fulfill the mission He has me on with Him. This is where we will spend the bulk of our focus during this week.

The second essential is in the area of daily cleansing from and empowering over the things in my life that would derail me from following Him daily. He mentions the two top derailers that keeps us in bondage as 1) those hurts, wounds in my life in which I am unwilling to release in forgiveness, and 2) the areas of sin in my life in which temptation takes me captive in a cycle of defeat.

Questions:

  1. Are there areas in your life that keep you from following the Spirit in obedience?
  2.  Are you willing today to ask the Lord to work in these areas by bringing you to repentance and breakthrough?

Repent…that your sins may be blotted out,

that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord…
